Want A Smart Remote to Control Everything in Your Home? Dream Becomes Real Now
Off from work, come in home, turn on the light by the switch on the wall. Then turn on the air conditioner and finally sit on the sofa to watch TV by different remote controller. Are you tired of doing all these steps after work every day?
If you ever dreamed of control all your home gadgets by one remote controller, the good news is your dream is about to come true.
Sevenhugs, the French developer believes it can be done with a device called Smart Remote, which promises to one day control any smart thing in your home. It instantly recognizes where and what you’re pointing to, adapting its screen and UI. Control your connected life all in a single touch: Philips Hue lights, Nest thermostat, Sonos speakers, and more just by pointing.
The way it works is the remote uses a series of lights, computer smarts and positional sensors to help the Smart Remote create a rough map of your home. You have to train it to know where your devices are, but after that, the point-and-use magic is automated. All that technological wizardry does zap the battery, though. It has to be recharged about once a day.
We were told that during the CES that the remote control pictured in the video and photos is still a prototype unit. It is a fully functional prototype but it is not necessarily an indication of the final product. The company plans on starting pre-orders either during February or March with a price tag of under $200. This will include the Smart Remote itself and three connected sockets.
