Should I buy iPhone 7 or wait for iPhone 8

By October 9, 2016

The seventh generation of iPhone has been announced, however, compared with the past iPhone products, this generation of iPhone 7 seems to disappoint many people. As far as I am concerned, I will not buy it.

Compared with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7’s appearance changed little, just modified the white line and released the color of piano black. The lens is still raised without any surprise. Headphone jack was canceled, thus you cannot listen to music while charging anymore. You could get a dongle that lets you use wired headphones while charging, but that’s another $40 dollars which you’d have to pay. Apple Watch 2 and Air Pods support wireless charging of wireless headset, but why not the iPhone 7? Maybe Apple intends to put this function on next year’s new iPhone, so next year’s new iPhone 8 will have more selling points.

If iPhone 7 is not worth buying, how about the iPhone 8? According to the latest news, as the iPhone’s 10th anniversary tribute, iPhone 8 will have the biggest change ever. It is predicted that, on the new generation of iPhone 8, it will use a 5.8 inch OLED screen, pick up a new upgrade A11 processor based on 10 nm process. However, there are some problems on OLED screen’s supply chain, so next year’s new iPhone will probably use OLED panel. The rumors also said the iPhone 8 will salute with double glass body, like the iPhone 4, since iPhone 7 once adopted a brand-new antenna line design, and metal fuselage are so popular among consumers, there is no reason to feature an old design on iPhone 8. As for the report mentioned the wireless charging technology, if it really can bring customers so much convenience, then the iPhone 8 has no reason to reject.

Since there are no official words from Apple about the iPhone 8, so we can’t say anything surely. Apparently there will be another fever brought by the upcoming iPhone 8.

So, if your iPhone is old such as iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s, it is a good time for you to buy iPhone 7 on October, as the supply of iPhone 7 will be abundant then. But, if your iPhone is new, such as iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, maybe it is better for you to wait for the much-anticipated iPhone 8.

  1. I’ve been an android user all my life. (Although I’m only a first year uni student so that’s not a very long time). I’ve recently decided that I really wanted to try having an iPhone, mostly because of iOS obviously.

However, iPhones, even on a 2 year plan (at least here in Canada), are ridiculously expensive. So I was waiting for the iPhone 7 to be announced, to see if any of the older models drop in price to a reasonable price.

My question is, how often do older models drop in price? I really don’t want the smaller iPhone because 4.7″ is too small for me after a nexus 6P, so I want to get the iPhone 6S. I realize that it’s 2 generations old now, so I was wandering if people who still have one think it’s worth it? Particularly, I am looking at these phones: but I’ll take other recommendations 🙂
