I have a new S8. I am using the charger that came with it. While charging the screen reads: FAST CHARGING. Charing xx%. Approximately xx minutes remaining. It takes between 2.5 – 3 hours to charge from 5% up to 100%. My former phone, a S5 charged fully in about 45 minutes. Most disappointing.

Your battery is long lasting…one month in. Samsung batteries are notorious for needing early replacement. Personally, I have had 4 Samsungs, S and note series. I found all of their batteries were crap in about a year. My wife had all the same phones, crap batteries for her too. Many websites have this similar complaint.Brian Benson is correct.

It’s quite simple, if a customer spends $800 on a new device and the device lifespan is around 18 months, which is around the lifespan of an every day users battery, the more likely the customer will replace with a newer device if they don’t have the option to replace their battery.

No everyone wants a removable battery, yet not everyone wants their phones to be paper thin too.
Remember, the thinner it gets, the easier it is to break. Common rule with Smart Phones.
So no, I’m not buying such a petty excuse. It does NOT benefit the customer one bit.
If they can fit water resistance chasis, enhanced camera designs, better cpu, ram and an amazing screen in even a lighter and thinner design, they can most certainly add a removable battery feature.

Agreed. I went in to get this – having delayed getting a new phone (still have a Galaxy 5) and refused to buy it because of the battery. I’m on my 3rd battery in my current phone – and tend to use my phones until they brick. Better for the environment, better for my pocket.
